The MIT Federal Credit Union has presented its first annual “Impact Gift” to CitySprouts, a nonprofit organization that partners with school teachers and other school staff to develop gardens in public school communities in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
President and CEO Brian Ducharme presented the grant at MIT FCU's Annual Business Meeting on April 25. The newly created grant will be given annually to an organization making a difference in the community, selected by the board, volunteers, leadership and associates of MIT FCU.
CitySprouts collaborates with local farmers, restaurant chefs, and food service programs to offer urban school children the experience of growing, preparing, and eating fresh, healthy food. CitySprouts ensures that hands-on learning, environmental stewardship and the experience of growing and eating healthy food become a part of every child’s life.
“I am extremely honored to present CitySprouts with the first Annual MIT Federal Credit Union Impact Gift,” Ducharme said. “This award was created to benefit an organization going above and beyond to make a difference in the Cambridge/MIT community. CitySprouts programs are not only making a difference in the community, but in these children’s lives as well. I’m positive these experiences will stay with them for a very long time.”
