Sabrina Drammis named to Capital One Academic All-America Women's Basketball First Team

The College Sports Information Directors of America voted MIT junior Sabrina Drammis to the Capital One Academic All-America Women’s Basketball first team, as announced by the association on Tuesday. She is the first MIT player since Sharon Prange ’07 in 2007 to receive this award and eighth overall while also earning the program’s fourth first-team selection.

Drammis currently ranks third in the country in defensive rebounds per game with 10 and is fifth in double-doubles with 19. She paces the NEWMAC in rebounds (305) and rebounds per game (12.2), is second in points (448) and points per game (17.9), ninth in field goal percentage (.462), and 10th in steals (38) and blocks (22).

A two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honoree, Drammis is majoring in computer science. As a software engineering intern at Second Spectrum, she helped develop a touchscreen Web application that integrated interactive 2-D visualizations based on advanced NBA data, in addition to working on a Web interface that enables users to quickly generate 3-D data visualizations for 2-D images and video. Drammis has also contributed to the Speech Communication Group in MIT’s Research Laboratory of Electronics, where she studied and analyzed speech signals and patterns for automated speech recognition algorithms.

MIT is the all-time Division III leader in producing Academic All-Americas and ranks third across all NCAA divisions with 222 honors.
