MIT professor Erik Brynjolfsson to deliver keynote at big data conference

The MIT Forum for Supply Chain Innovation and the Accenture and MIT Alliance in Business Analytics will host the conference at the Cambridge Marriott.
The MIT Forum for Supply Chain Innovation has announced that MIT professor Erik Brynjolfsson, director of the MIT Center for Digital Business, will deliver the keynote address at the Forum’s conference, Big Data in Manufacturing, to be held Nov. 12 at the Cambridge Marriott.

Brynjolfsson’s keynote, “Big Data: A Management Revolution,” will focus on how big data and decision science are changing the way companies make decisions and run their businesses.

“There is a fundamental change underway in the way that manufacturers make decisions,” says Brynjolfsson, the Schussel Family Professor of Management Science. “Instead of relying on a leader’s gut instincts, an increasing number of companies are embracing a new method that involves data-based analytics.”

This one-day executive conference, hosted with the Accenture and MIT Alliance in Business Analytics, focuses on the effect of big data and decision science on the future of innovation and leadership in manufacturing and retailing.

MIT professor David Simchi-Levi, founder of the Forum and co-chair of the Accenture and MIT Alliance, says, “We are pleased to have the Accenture and MIT Alliance in Business Analytics sponsoring the MIT Forum for Supply Chain Innovation conference and sharing research insights that will have a significant impact on the manufacturing and retail industries.”

Narendra Mulani, senior managing director at Accenture Analytics and co-chair of the Accenture and MIT Alliance, says, “How to turn big data into big outcomes is a key question for every business today and we’re looking forward to discussing it with some of the most senior experts in the field of analytics and decision science.”
