Nineteen individuals and three teams were honored on Tuesday, Feb. 28, during this year's MIT Excellence Awards. The awards acknowledge the extraordinary efforts made by members of the MIT community toward fulfilling the goals, values and mission of the Institute. This is among the highest honors awarded to staff by MIT. Professionalism, commitment to best practices, and high standards of excellence are at the heart of these awards.

Awards are given out by category, which include Serving the Client, Innovative Solutions, Greening MIT, Fostering Diversity and Inclusion, Bringing Out the Best, and Unsung Hero.

This year, MIT President Susan Hockfield — who recently announced she would be stepping down from her position — was also honored with an Excellence Award for her “Outstanding Dedication and Service to MIT.”
