Information Services & Technology (IS&T) now offers full support for Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) running on Vista and Windows 7. Starting June 29, IS&T will deliver IE9 to machines subscribed to the MIT Windows Automatic Update Service (WAUS).

In collaboration with departments, labs, and centers (DLCs), IS&T has been testing IE9 since its initial release by Microsoft and has worked on resolving compatibility issues with various internal and external sites. IS&T has found that
  • Upgrading to IE9 from IE8 and IE7 works as expected, preserving user settings, bookmarks, and MIT personal certificates.
  • IE9's new features and improvements in security and usability will change to some extent how users interact with the browser.
Certificates and IE9

To obtain a new MIT personal certificate, IE 9 users should run CertAid for Internet Explorer. CertAid for Internet Explorer is not needed for win.mit.edu domain users.
