Four-time Public Service Fellowship recipient Tish Scolnik has touched
down for the fourth time in Tanzania to continue the work on her
small-business wheelchair that has enabled wheelchair-bound individuals
to sell their own handiwork, repair shoes, and fix small electrical
goods.
Scolnik will be researching and writing her mechanical engineering thesis focused on the dissemination of appropriate technologies in developing countries, field testing the innovative Leveraged Freedom Chair wheelchair she co-developed through the IDEAS Compeition, following-up with the wheelchair small businesses she helped to found, and catching-up with her many friends and collaborators at local wheelchair and disability advocacy organizations.
